Sick again

I've been told that the videos haven't been working. I apologize, I'm not sure why that is. I haven't had the time to sit down and figure out what's wrong but I will soon enough.

Baby girl is growing up so fast. It hasn't even been three months yet and I teared up yesterday while I was looking at pictures we took during her first days of being home. That's really saying something...I'm not usually the sentimental type. She is so incredibly special! There are all kinds of things she does that just make me melt. I have to say though, one of my most favorite things is to see her with her cousins. Ariya and Silas both jump at the opportunity to hold her, and it's just the cutest thing. Ariya of course is not very good at it yet, but the second I walk through the door she immediately wants to see Memma. Silas is a total pro with her and she instantly lights up around him. Where he learned how to hold a baby I don't know, but he knows his stuff.

Unfortunately, she has another cold. She's so congested and having a hard time sleeping. This morning she woke up to eat at 7:00 and then proceeded to throw up in my bed. Lovely! I hate not knowing what to do to make her feel better.

I took this picture shortly after she threw up. I guess it made her feel a little better because she went right to sleep, so I went ahead and let her take a nap in our bed. Pretty sweet!

Nap time

Gemma was exausted this afternoon. The whole Boyd family went out to lunch after church, so she wasn't able to get a solid nap in until 3:30. I swaddled her, put her in her crib, and then wanted to pick her right back up. She was being too sweet! I resisted though, and she has been sleeping soundly for over an hour now.

Sleep Sleep Sleep

Gemma continues to be a total rock star when it comes to sleeping. A couple of days ago I wanted to feed her before my morning run, so I went in at 5:00 a.m. (exactly 8 hours from her last feeding) and fed her in her sleep. She didn't even open her eyes and then proceeded to sleep another hour and 45 minutes. Yes...almost 10 hours of sleep!! My strategy thus far has been to feed her between 9:30 and 10:00, put her down, and immediately go to bed myself. This way I get the maximum amount of sleep before her next meal. However, now that she's consistently sleeping 8 hours, I'm anxious to establish a 7:00 p.m. bed time. We tried it for the first time last night and it was a total disaster. Since that's usually her most fussy time of day, she was not happy to be put in her crib. We had company over so I didn't feel comfortable letting her cry herself to sleep for the first time. Tonight we have more company, and tomorrow is small group...I guess we'll have to try it again Monday night. The dreaded bed time boot camp begins!

I absolutely love this outfit on her! I wanted to make sure I posted a picture of her wearing it, but of course she wouldn't cooperate once the camera came out. I think she finally just got bored of me snapping away.

We went to our two month check up today. Gemma is now 22 1/4 long, and weighs 11lbs. She's one healthy little girl!
Anyone who knows me well, knows I'm terribly afraid of needles. Actually not needles per say, giving blood is no problem, but shots is a whole different story. I've had way too many bad experiences and it just really bothers me knowing something is being pumped into my arm. So I have honestly been dreading Gemma's two month appointment all week. She cried a little but of course handled it very well. She's been a little fussy this afternoon but as you can see from the video, a little Tylenol does a girl wonders.

Friends

I started taking care of Zoey last week and it has been so much fun. For now, Gemma is completely oblivious to the fact that Zoey is here every morning, but I'm confident they'll be good friends once they can start interacting. If nothing else, at least Zoey likes they way Gemma's hands taste haha.

Hard At Play

This isn't the best of videos...well I mean, she's still cute and all, but not much happens. I was talking to her grandma this afternoon and she asked me to post something new so she could see her.
So here it is mom...in a 30 second video I was able to get a smile and a sneeze hahaha.

Bath time

Gemma LOVES taking baths but doesn't particulary like having to get out...as you can see. It may seem cruel that I'm taping her while she's so upset but it's just too cute.

2010 off to a good start!

Gemma decided to start sleeping through the night! Obviously, I could not be happier. She slept through the night on New Year's Eve and has continued the trend. It's amazing how much she's interacting now. Mornings are her favorite time of day and she's all smiles when she wakes up. She was a total trooper over the holidays and got lots of fun stuff.
